Daniel Stewart, Founder and Legal Adviser
Daniel founded IILA in 2017, after many years working in international law at the United Nations. A graduate of Harvard and Columbia universities, Daniel has worked on international criminal accountability at the Special Court for Sierra Leone and the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia; protecting human rights at the European Court of Human Rights; interpreting and applying economic and social rights at the Constitutional Court of South Africa; working within the tensions of security and human rights at the Supreme Court of Israel; and assessing the responsibilities of countries for human rights, the environment and self-determination of peoples at the International Court of Justice in the Netherlands. He has taught courses on international law, international human rights, the United Nations and international courts and tribunals at Columbia, Cardozo and St. John's law schools and at the New School.
Alisha Mathew (Summer-Autumn 2019)
Alisha holds an LL.M from Columbia Law School, and an LL.B from the University of New South Wales. She has worked as a commercial lawyer and judicial clerk in Australia.
Sravya Movaa (2019)
Sravya, a 2015 LLM graduate of NYU Law, has worked on IILA's ocean protection support programs. Sravya has worked at the Indian Supreme Court and the United Nations.
Tamar Sarjveladze (Winter-Spring 2019)
Tamar, a Georgian (country not US state) 2018 Columbia LLM graduate and former legal officer at the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, and now an associate at Decherts LLP, worked on IILA's UN Security Council on international law toolkit.
Kevin Minofu (2018)
Kevin, a law graduate of University of Cape Town and Columbia Law School, is from South Africa and Malawi - and IILA's first Legal Fellow. Kevin provided invaluable support with IILA's work on protecting marine life and preparing IILA's Human Rights Treaty Monitoring Toolkit.
